Things To Do In Terra Verde FL
Tierra Verde, FL is a small residential, boating community located in Tampa Bay. In addition to being the home to the world famous Fort De Soto Park, Tierra Verde can boast of its miles of pristine beaches, trails (including a paved recreational trail that is 6.8 miles long), a favorite campground and a historic fort. This community is also renowned for its breathtaking waterfront views.
The community is made up of a few tracts of land occupied by residential properties and encircled by the waters of the bay. There are just a few attractions in the community itself; however, there is a lot to do in the most commercial areas surrounding Tierra Verde FL. Below are some of the things you can do while visiting or residing in Tierra Verde:
Fort De Soto Park
Fort De Soto Park is the highlight of Tierra Verde. It is made up of 5 islands: Madelaine, Bonne Fortune, St. Jean, St. Christopher Mullet. Its picturesque surroundings are enhanced by the Fort de Soto ruins and other historic sites. It is also suitable for a broad range of outdoor activities. Additionally, the seven miles of waterfront boasted by the islands has 3 miles of breathtakingly beautiful white sandy beaches. There are also swim centers, boat launches, nature trails and fishing piers. The pet-friendly park has a designated area for dogs, including a dog beach.
Egmont Key State Park
Egmont Key State Park is only accessible by boat and mainly serves as a refuge for wildlife. You can take a ferry to this amazing location, which is uninhabited, except for majestic creatures like seabirds and gopher tortoises. Ships passing this island are still guided by a lighthouse that has been in operation since 1858. You can explore large red brick roads and wander among building ruins. After which, you can seek adventure in the water through swimming, snorkeling, shelling, and fishing.
Quartermaster Museum
A short 12-minute drive south of Tierra Verde will take you to the Quartermaster Museum. The museum is located on ‘Mullet Island, ‘ and it is an authentic replica of a military post building constructed in 1898. Records and photos were used to make it as close as possible to the original. Among the exhibits is a recreation that closely resembles a quartermaster’s store from back when Fort De Soto was up and running. Also, the wall panels pay homage to the historic Fort De Soto area before the construction of the fort; dating all the way back to the 16th Century.
These are just a few of the places to go and things to do in and around Tierra Verde FL. You can pack your bags and get ready for spectacular beauty and adventure.
